FIFA 2026 Sponsors: Who Does AI Actually Recommend?
FIFA 2026 kicks off in June. Brands like Adidas, Nike, Coca-Cola, and Visa are spending hundreds of millions on sponsorship. But here's the question: when consumers ask AI assistants about FIFA-related products, which brands actually get recommended?
We built a dedicated tracker polling ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity with 12 real consumer queries related to FIFA 2026. Queries like 'best football boots for FIFA 2026' and 'which brand sponsors FIFA World Cup' — sourced from Google Trends, not invented.
Early findings: official sponsorship status doesn't guarantee AI recommendations. Nike appears in sportswear-related queries almost as often as Adidas (the official partner), likely because AI models weigh product quality and consumer reviews alongside sponsorship data.
In beverages, Coca-Cola (official partner) dominates over Pepsi in FIFA-specific queries. But for general 'best sports drink' queries, the gap narrows significantly. Sponsorship buys association, but not automatic AI preference.
The most interesting finding: brands that actively create content around FIFA 2026 (social media, blog posts, landing pages) see measurably higher AI visibility for related queries within 2-3 weeks. Content freshness is a stronger signal than sponsorship spend for AI recommendations.
